Extracurricular English

We offer many extracurricular opportunities in the English Department to enrich our learners' experience of school and the curriculum. Currently we offer the following clubs during lunchtimes:

Monday - Debate Club for Years 7-13 in 172;
Tuesday - Creative Writing Club for Years 7-13 in 172;
Wednesday - Shakespeare Society for Years 7-13 in the Dance Studio;
Thursday - English Masterclasses for Yrs7-9 (Room 171); Years 10-11 (Room 172); Years 12-13 (Room 71) and English Literature Revision after school (Years 10-11 - Room 172);
Friday - Book Club for Years 7-11 in Room 172.

As well as these regular clubs, we run competitions and events such as:
  • Slam Jam;
  • Poetry by Heart;
  • ESU Performing Shakespeare Competition;
  • ESU Mace Competition;
  • ESU Public Speaking Competition;
  • Creative Writing Competitions;
  • Readathon;
  • De Aston Poetry Cafe;
  • Lincoln University Newspaper Day;
  • World Book Day;
  • Carnegie Reading Challenge.
